Julia Davis Park

Julia Davis Park, the oldest park in the city, was established in 1907 through a generous donation of 43 acres by Thomas Davis in memory of his wife, Julia. The park is known for its distinctive features, including Julia Davis Rotary Plaza, Richard and Annette Bloch Cancer Survivor Plaza, Childhood Cancer Pavilion, Abraham Lincoln Statue, Bandshell, and Rose Garden, each adding to its unique charm and historical significance.

Hull's Gulch

Hulls Gulch stands out as a quintessential trail in Boise, offering a smooth, consistent grade and intriguing technical elements, including a notable rock formation. Nearby, a gentle creek adds to the trail’s charm. While popular among hikers, joggers, and bikers, its high traffic and blind curves mean that downhill riders should be cautious. With its sandy terrain that drains effectively, Hulls Gulch remains accessible even when other trails are too muddy.

The Military Reserve

Military Reserve, covering 734 acres in northeast Boise, features an archery range, bike park, dog park, trails, and a historic cemetery. Initially granted 466 acres by the Bureau of Land Management, the area expanded by 260 acres in 2006 through Foothills Levy funds. The military cemetery, about half a mile from the Veterans Administration Hospital, holds veterans from several historic wars, as well as civilian graves.

Bogus Basin

Bogus Basin, just 16 miles from downtown Boise, is the go-to mountain for locals. In winter, it offers skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and tubing with stunning views of the Treasure Valley. During the summer, visitors can enjoy lift-served biking, hiking, summer tubing, a climbing wall, and year-round rides on the mountain coaster. During the Fall at Bogus Basin, join Botanist Edna Rey-Vizgirdas for a 2-mile walk to explore the colorful autumn foliage and discover nature’s bounty of berries, seeds, and rose hips.

Boise Depot

Opened in 1925, the Boise Depot is a historic train station listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Located on the rim of the first bench, it provides stunning views of Capitol Boulevard and the Idaho State Capitol. The depot's Spanish-style architecture and picturesque setting make it a must-visit landmark.
