Basque Cooking Classes
The Basque Market
608 W. Grove Street
Jan. and Feb. 2014
Located in the Basque Block, this unique retailer offers delicious regional cuisine and ingredients. Learn how to make your own epicurean dinner to warm up these chilly winter nights. This January and February, the Basque Market offers three scrumptious cooking classes - Paella (1/8, 1/13, 1/29, 2/26), Cod with Pimentos and Arroz con Leche (1/22), and Kas Lamb and Jamon Serrano Stuffed Mussels (2/12). Each class is $35 and includes tapas, wine tasting, and of course you get to eat all of the yummy food you make. Classes begin at 6 p.m., and you can call (208) 433-1208 to secure your spot.
The Basque Market is one stop shopping in Boise for ingredients that are delicious but sometimes hard to find in a regular grocery store. You'll find food specialties here from the Basque region like turrones, tapenades, blue cheese, croquetas, and squid in ink. Oenophiles must explore the Market's selection of Spanish wines - the Northwest's largest.
In addition, the store is famous for its Paella luncheons on Wednesdays and Friday at 12 p.m., and Paella dinners on Thursdays at 6 p.m. Savor this mouthwatering, hearty dish of rice, seafood, veggies, and more, prepared from scratch, along with a glass of wine. Every day from 12 to 3 p.m., partake in delicious tapas. Enjoy extended hours Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 4 to 8 p.m. with special happy hour prices from 4 to 6 p.m.
