What's in a name? At Hotel 43, we're proud to showcase Idaho's unique culture and Boise's fresh style. So much so - that we named our hotel in celebration of the Gem State. Idaho might be best known for potatoes - and indeed they are fantastic here - but the number "43" also holds special significance for the state and for Boise in particular. Here's why:
- Idaho was the 43rd state to join the United States. That's right, we became part of the Union on July 3, 1890. With the exact origin of the name "Idaho" is debated, most people agree that the state takes its name from the Nez Perce native term for "the Land of Many Waters."
- Boise is also located on the 43rd parallel north - the line of latitude that encircles the earth and crosses through Europe, Asia and North America. We share the 43rd parallel with some other fantastic destinations across the planet, including Toronto, Florence, Nice, Sochi, Cannes, Sapporo and Monaco.
We'd also like to say that there are 43 reasons to love our Boise hotel - but there are WAY more than that. Stay with us and discover them all for yourself. Want to learn more? Please contact us today.
