Crave a little Americana during your stay in Boise? Well you’re in luck, as the Western Idaho State Fair rolls into town August 21st through the 30th. A treasured annual tradition since 1897, the 10-day festival of all things Idahoan began as a harvest celebration, agriculture show, and competition between the state’s many farmers and ranchers. Today, it’s a down-home good time for everyone, with all sorts of carnival rides, colorful competitions, marquee concerts, and exciting shows to entertain over 250,000 attendees each year.
Thrilling Carnival Rides for All Ages
Fast spinning, splashing, and free-falling ride tickets are $1 apiece, but many thrills cost more than one. If you plan on riding the day away, Carnival Wristbands are just $30 (admission included), granting the wearer unlimited rides until the fair closes.
Free with admission, all shows start at 7:30pm in Les Bois Grandstand. Acts include:
- Nashville songwriter, Jerrod Niemann – August 25th
- Southern rockers, Theory of a Deadman – August 26th
- Country western revivalist, Gary Allen – August 27th
- Legendary rock diva, Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo – August 28th
Exciting Shows & Colorful Competitions
No American state fair is complete without an array of wild competitions. From Salsa, BBQ, Cupcake, and Meatball Cookoffs, to Pumpkin & Watermelon Eating Contests, and the zany Women’s Skillet Toss, you never know what sort of feats you might witness (or taste!). Not to mention animal shows with alligators and sea lions, cowboy roping, high-wire circus acts, BMX stunts, magicians, and sword-swallowing – just 10 minutes from Hotel 43!
